Mercies are New Each Day

It was my day to walk Boone. We left home in the dark - the first frost covering the grass in the park; hood, gloves a necessity in the early morn. I watched as the sun peaked over the roofs of the neighborhoods. Orange, pink, yellow, then purple and finally a faint blue sky. It all happened in the span of about 10 minutes. Dark, then light. A new day.

Summarily, Wyatt was restless last night. He never woke up completely, but just restless. He tossed and turned. But he is happy now. Once he woke up - it was a new day - and life is good! He is "cleaning out" my purse as we speak, milk from a sippy cup running down his chin, and onto his silly monkey pajamas. It is a new day for him - new things to play with; new toys to figure out, new foods to try. A new day.

The trees are turning - beautiful fall leaves are changing from green to gold and some orange and red. I love this time of the year. This morning I am reminded that for the trees to renew themselves, this is a necessity. Fall must happen for spring to happen; budding with new life. A new beginning.

Unlike the sunrise, Wyatt and the trees, my heavenly father says my mercies are new EACH day. Psalm 119:156 says: "Great are your mercies, O LORD, revive me according to your ordinances." Tapping in to the renewal of the mercies of our Father will insure that we can leave all of the rest of our burdens far behind. Not being good enough, self doubt, anger, jealousy, laziness. Can you feel it? Feel the mercy of our father, and leave the rest of it behind. It is nothing in comparison to the new day the Lord has given us. Hold tight, He made this day, created for His purposes! Seek the mercies and seize the day! Worthy! Worthy! Worthy!

One year ago I didn’t know that I would be a mom tomorrow.
One year ago I didn’t know that a little something sweet could steal my heart.
I didn’t know that I would need to capture each moment with my camera because I wouldn’t remember you being so small.
I didn’t realize that little people would grow so fast.
I didn’t know that I would do anything to take away your hurts.
That a smile would change my entire day.
I didn’t know that I could love home, your daddy, nature, and you immeasurably MORE than I ever imagined.
I didn’t know that holding you in the middle of the night could make my heart swell.
I didn’t know that goldfish crackers would provide so much comfort.
I didn’t know that I would cry easier, laugh more, and enjoy living in the moment.
I didn’t know that parenting was so easy…and so hard.
I didn’t know that I would learn to pray, seemingly endlessly at times.
I didn't know that I would sacrifice so much to make you feel so much better.
I didn't know that I would become such a different person.
I didn't know that I would be so incredibly blessed by your impact on my life.
I didn't know that I would be reminded that God was good, very good, each day.
I didn't know. Because one year ago I didn't know you, Sweet Boy.

One year ago, I was just heading to the hospital. I can't believe how you have changed me. I hope you never wonder how much I love you. I truly can't describe it.

Grow Big, sweet one year old boy. I treasure you.
Your mom.

Hope Floats

Wyatt has a goose-egg on his forehead, and on the back of his head, from two different falls today. he is cutting two teeth, and he was in a funk.
Boone is depressed. Curled up on the dirty clothes all day.
Mark is gone for a week. And it is quiet and a little lonely here. But hope floats...like my favorite movie - I know that tomorrow is another day that the Lord has made - and the sun will come up.

I just found out that our good friends are facing a terrible tragedy in their family - their daughter committed suicide today. It makes me sad and makes me wonder why she couldn't see and feel the hope...

And now I just pray for this family and hope that they feel HIS presence around them. I am so blessed, but I have felt the lows and funks...but I always know that I am never alone. And eventually hope floats.

I have no idea why this happened. But I feel the pain and heartbreak of this family losing their daughter. And I hug my funky little man a little tighter. May Wyatt always know that regardless of choices and decisions - that I love him. And so does his Heavenly father. And that sometimes you just have to give hope a chance to float up.

Hope floats.
